Friday night was a busy night here at recruit757.com.   There were numerous scrimmages across the area and we unfortunately couldn’t get to them all.

We did however get pix from Oscar Smith’s “closer perhaps than it should have been” scrimmage with Norview, and the quad scrimmage between Granby, Princess Anne, Kempsville and Wilson at Powhatan Field.  The start of the season is now less than two weeks away for some area teams and anticipation is building.

Atlantic Shores breaks the huddle (Photo: Andy Hilton/recruit757.com)

Coach John Quinerly and Maury High School host their own weekly 7×7 league on Tuesday night and tonight was full of action, pitting Maury, Kings Fork, Atlantic Shores and Bishop Sullivan Catholic against each other.   The heat on the artificial turf was brutal, but that just made the games hotter.  With four teams going on two fields, no one had rest.

Maury was busy breaking in their new quarterback, Savoy Majors, and they were working with mostly JV players.   Kings Fork had most of their complement of players, but the Bulldogs have a young squad that needs the work in preparation for the fall season.  Bishop Sullivan is working with two young quarterbacks, Brandte McIntyre and Maryland transfer Brian Novak, both rising Juniors.  Lastly, Atlantic Shores got good work in with college bound seniors Quentin Williams at quarterback and Will Wentz at receiver.

There will be more stories on these teams in the coming days.  In the meantime, hop on over to Facebook and enjoy the photos from Tuesday night’s action.  While you’re on the recruit757 Facebook page, become a fan!  We love hearing about your interest in local football, so be a part of the group.

Best of the 757 Combine Coverage On The Way

Linemen work hard in one on one drills at The Best of the 757 Combine (Photo: Andy Hilton)

Recruit757.com has “Best of The 757 Combine” coverage coming!

Almost 250 kids participated in the event and stories are just oozing out of it!  You’ll find out which player had a 42 inch vertical leap.  Who was it that ran a rumored 4.2 forty?  Who were the surprise linemen that were tearing each other up in the one-on-one drills?

Over the next few days, the stories will come out.  Photos and videos will be uploaded to the Facebook fan page.  Keep checking in and we’ll keep you informed.

Jocorey Robins Video Posted to Facebook!

There’s a good selection of highlight videos on the recruit757 site and there’s more to come to soon.  In the meantime, there’s a new video available on the recruit757 Facebook Fan page.

Along with Cedric Cradle, Jr. (who’s entering his Senior year) Jocorey Robins will be one of the main offensive weapons for Coach Cedric Cradle’s Churchland Truckers. Robins really came into his own last year.   The combo of Cradle and Robins got the benefit of running behind the Truckers’ massive offensive line including Richard Coles (LG 6-4 400), Earnest Coley (C 6-3 300) and Ali Scott (6-2 310) who signed with Norfolk State.   Coley will be back for his senior year in 2010-11, but Coles and Scott have moved on.  With road graders like that on the line, you can see why the Churchland running game was the biggest part of their offense.

Robins did some good work catching passes out of the backfield as well.  In 2010 with Robins in the backfield and Jarrell Young (JR 5-11 180) at quarterback, the Truckers could do some damage in the Eastern District and find their way back to the playoffs.

Stop by the Facebook page, check out the video there and click on the “Like” button while you’re at it.  Thanks for checking out recruit757 and keep an eye out for more local player highlights coming to the site.  You can get to the recruit757 Facebook page by clicking here.

If you’re a local high school player or local high school coach and you want an extra edge in recruiting be sure to get in touch!  We catalog and post highlight videos free of charge.  Be seen by the colleges that check out recruit757.com on a regular basis.   We’re here to get local players the college scholarship offers they deserve!

Ian Haislip Video Added To recruit757 on Facebook

Since Ian Haislip was one of about forty high school juniors that attended Junior Day at UVA this past weekend, it seems appropriate to show off some of his highlights from 2009.

On the Facebook Fan Page for recruit757 you can see a good 1:18 video highlight reel from Tabb’s game against York last September.  Both offenses were hot that game, but Haislip did get in a few good plays including a sack of York QB Ben Edwards.  Haislip also had a highlight reel catch for a touchdown.  It was a diving grab in the end zone that has to be seen to be appreciated.

Haislip is just now coming on the radar for most schools, but he’s received early interest from ACC schools including UVA, Virginia Tech and NC State.

More video will be posted on Facebook and the new recruit757.com will be launching soon.   Surf on over to Facebook and become a fan of recruit757, check out the videos posted there and whet your appetite for the action to come.  Thanks for checking out recruit757!
